New Trials for Healthier Bees!

We're always working to keep our bees healthy and this season we're excited to share news about a new mite treatment trial. We're testing slow-release formic acid pads that we make right here at the apiary. Formic acid is a natural acid that is safe for bees but deadly for varroa mites, once of the leading causes of colony collapse. We'll keep you posted on how the bees respond and what this could mean for future treatments. We are comparing the results against two other gold standard treatments - formic pro and amitraz. As you can see the bees are not too bothered by the fumes! Innovation is one of our 4 cornerstones along with education, sustainability/advocacy and community!
