Here's what's keeping us buzzing...

Spring Update 2025

We're thrilled to report that our winter colony loss was only 21% (3 hives) — far below the predicted Ontario average of 55%, and even lower than predicted for Canada (42%) and the USA (60%). While losing just 1 colony is sad, it is part of the whole beekeeping process - and we have some beastly hives we can split to make up for those losses…and we're adding some…Carnies!

This year, we're trialing imported Carnies (not what you think!) Carnies are a slang for Carniolan bees — a hardy, docile breed well-suited to Ontario's climate. They're already showing great potential in our hives!

If you haven't ordered your plants, head over to the store before we run out as quantities are limited. Plant pickup is Saturday May 24 between 10 and 2 with a transplant demo (weather permitting) at 11 AM by Shelley and Tim.
